Tapering as they reach to the sky, the rammed earth walls support a canvas roof, passively cooling a community gathering space below. The roof is a "raincatcher" waiting patiently, a constant reminder of the preciousness of water in the desert. It is an outdoor classroom commissioned by the University of Arizona Extensions Program, which teaches desert appropriate landscaping and gardening technologies.
